1945 Air Force: These are the 1945 magical years, we go into fantasy realms where sport will astonish us. The Aeroplane Games were games where the stakes were high, where you fly through the night and search for reason [sic] to grin.
Fighter jets and the back yard farming runways of Shenanigans of the Skies
Imagine toddlers in aviator hats and goggles askew over their eyes, playing the mightiest of eagles. DIY runways sparked in our tiny backyards with mock control towers, and a squadron of fighter jets waiting for clearance to launch. The aim? We will be remembered in history as the best of all ’45 aces!
A Powerful Tormented Hulk
And he was the commander of this pack of marauding forward niggling albeit half-firm (laughs) chuckles; he had a laugh followed by arrows and birds that refused to let down. “Aviators, to your planes!” He winked as told us. We would race to our places, excited to set up for all kinds of heart-pounding flights through the heavens.
Masterpieces of Cardboard and Crayon
Constructed using best recycled cardboard boxes strapped together with industrial duct tape bicycle parts and a healthy overdose of industrial duct tape quickly became the talk of our neighborhood. Each bore a name and personality of its own, from svelte “Sky Streaked” to stout “Iron Eagle.” They were covered in neon crayon scribbles and looked like something an adult cockpit would fight over —

Our hearts racing and our hair billowing in the wind, we drove along what would have been a runway back in 1945. We took off into the wide open space of pure blackness with Captain Chuckles receiving one last salute from us.
Through this work, I will introduce the reader to some of my greatest challenges and nemeses — a few made up opponents by me myself, in an unrestricted imagination.
We battled enemy planes (bushes in tight), dodged thunderstorms, or tangled with that vile flying snake — a twisty hose — taking our small missions into the jungles of prehistory. What is our strongest weapon? Endless Possibilities for Creativity
